We Can't Expect Others to Give Us What We Cannot Give Ourselves

If only I'd learned this growing up! - I'd have less reprogramming to do!

We get so used to getting our needs met outside of ourselves when we are young, that we think this is how to go about getting them met when we grow up.

So many people, dare I say, MOST people turn to the outside world for:

* Validation * Love * Compassion * Permission * Acceptance

When all of these things can ONLY really be found inside!

We may evoke validation from our lover one day, but on another day, when they are lost in their own troubles, we may not be able to evoke the same sentiment.

Our best friend might think we are so amazing one day, but just not be available the next.

Have you ever received praise from someone but you didn't REALLY FEEL it? This is because THEIR validation does not equal YOURS!

What to do?

It is only when we learn that WE are the source of our own happiness that we can truly be the CREATORS of our lives, writing the script as we so choose.

The term "locus of control" is the frame of reference for the extent to which we believe we can control our reactions to events that affect us (Divine Intelligence by Dr. Jayne Gardner).

A person with an external locus of control believes that fate or God controls his or her life.

A person with an internal locus of control believes that life is what we make of it.

Which sounds more powerful to you?

The best news of my adult life is - I have the power!

You do, too!

You can begin to reprogram your mind and your life so that YOU are the creator of the emotions and experiences you have in your life.

If you KNEW that you could create anything in your life, what would it be?

Happiness? Success? Freedom? A loving relationship?

The only thing standing in the way of what we want is OUR THINKING!

True!

And guess what? We have the power to change that thinking to deliver us the life we want.

Isn't that the best news ever??
